Hosts Disability Awareness Mass
St. Gertrude Setting On September 29

St. Gertrude Church invites people with and without disabilities to their fourth annual Disability Awareness Mass. This celebration will be held on Saturday, September 29, at 4 p.m.

The church and church hall are fully accessible, as are the restrooms. There are two accessible ramps; one is located on Beach Channel Drive and the other is around the corner on Beach 38 Street.

The event is the culmination of an effort of the Parish Advocates for People with Disabilities from churches on the Rockaway Peninsula and in Broad Channel. Presenters and lectors will be people with disabilities. Attendance at the Mass fulfills the Sunday obligation; light refreshments will be available at a reception after the service.

The Mass is dedicated to the memory of the recently deceased pastor, Father Brendan Downing of St. Gertrude Church.
