PS 43,Locals,Clean Up Beach
PS 43 and the local community took to the beach for the American Littoral Society's International Coastal Cleanup last Saturday. Even though dark clouds loomed overhead, that did not stop faculty, students and local community members from coming out to clean the beach area off of Beach 29 Street. PS 43 Principal John Quattrochi commented that the area "has never looked so good". This is in large part due to the efforts by PS 43 faculty and students involved in cleanups and stewardship projects all year long just outside the school. In addition to collecting debris from the beach, participants logged information on trash collected for an International database jointly maintained by ALS and the ocean conservancy, which contributed to the Better Bottle Bill legislation passed in Albany this year. Pictured, PS 43 faculty member came with his children to join in the clean up.
