Hunt Completes Cadet Basic Training

Cadet Gary T. Hunt has completed Cadet Basic Training at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York.

Hunt and other cadets concluded training with a 12-mile road march from Camp Buckner to West Point, on August 13. New cadets were officially accepted into the Corps of Cadets during the Acceptance Parade on August 18. He plans to graduate from West Point in 2011 and will be commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army.

The mission of the U.S. Military Academy is to educate, train, and inspire cadets, so that each graduate is a commissioned leader of character committed to the values of Duty, Honor, and Country and prepared for a career of professional excellence and service to the nation, as an officer in the U.S. Army.

Hunt, the son of Gary and Deborah Hunt of Rockaway Point and grandson of Tom and Irma Hogan, is a 2007 Midwood High School graduate. He is also a member of the Roxbury Volunteer Fire Department.
