Deacon Godfrey P.Morris
Mechanic

Deacon Godfrey P. Morris, a Rockaway resident, died September 8. He was 58.

Morris was born in Brooklyn on October 2, 1948. He worked as a mechanic and was an active member of his church, where he held the position of Deacon. According to family, Morris was known as the "wise gentle giant," with a gentle but firm demeanor.

Morris was preceded in death by his parents, Ernestine and Thompson H. Morris.

He is survived by his wife, Christine; brother, Thompson Morris; sisters, Rose Morris and Denise Jackson; niece, Lelani Morris-Poussel; nephews, Keith and Kevin Brown; grand-niece Emma Poussel; grandnephew; Kyle A. Brown; sisters-in-law, Beverly and Sherry Anderson; brother in-law, Derek Barnes and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home, with visitation at Gaffney's Friendship Chapel. A service was held at Holy Unity Baptist Church in Jamaica, Queens. Interment was at Fresh Pond Crematory in Middle Village.
