Senior Center May Be Closed,But The Program Goes On
Dear Editor,

The Senior Center Building is closed. However, the program is ongoing on a limited basis. Our temporary office is our Catholic Charities bus, which holds 12 people and a driver, a total of 13 people. Our director, Rose Lawrence, and her social worker, Mecker Johnson, tend to senior business and problems as best they can from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., using their own cell phones to call and receive calls. Our bus driver, Chris, takes us to lunch and back, five days a week. The Meals on Wheels program is still getting out 150 meals daily to our homebound seniors; they put the routes together in the parking area of CVS drug store. Rain or shine, from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., the meals are on their way to our homebound seniors. The director of the Meals on Wheels program is Ms. Lena Rivera. After six weeks on the street, Catholic Charities and Seaside Senior Center are one. "Together We Can." At this point I want to say "thank you" to our sister centers Glenwood, Brooklyn, our picnic was fabulous; Hillcrest, Queens, your invitation to join you for lunch (our brothers and sisters) made us feel whole again. From Seaside Center to Brooklyn and Queens centers, "You have touched our hearts and we will never be the same." Thank you.

Mr. Landlord, please repair the entire center inside and out- not just the roof.

B. SULLIVAN
