The police officers chased them through vacant lots and backyards to Seagirt Avenue and Beach 26 Street. Court records provided by Queens District Attorney Richard Brown show that Police Officer Myers said that he saw a man, later identified as Dominick Robinson, 18, of 23-38 Oceancrest Boulevard in Bayswater, throw an object against a house, which later turned out to be a fully-loaded 9 mm Highpoint automatic pistol.
Police say that another of the men, Kaleck Cross, 19, of 38-08 Beach Channel Drive in Arverne, also threw down a gun during the chase. The recovered gun was a loaded, 12-gauge sawed-off shotgun. A search of the area revealed another weapon, a Model 995 Highpoint rifle, loaded with seven rounds. In addition, four 12-gauge-shotgun shells were found in an adjacent rear yard near the Beach 27 Street address. Cross was arraigned on charges of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, an armed felony offense. His bail was set at $10,000 for his next court date, which was scheduled for later this month. Robinson awaits arraignment in Queens Supreme Court on charges of criminal possession of a weapon.
A spokesperson for the 101 Precinct said that the precinct has made more gun arrests this year, nearly 100, than the entire Patrol Borough Queens North Command, which encompasses eight precincts.
