Letters New York City's Beach
Dear Editor,

The following letter was sent to Congressman Anthony Weiner. The writer is the president of the Rockaway Artists Alliance. Dear Congressman Weiner,

I have been made acutely aware of Rockaway's longing for a top of the line, Olympic standard, swimming and diving pool for at least the last fifteen years. It has been a topic of conversation amongst all manner of residents and I have mixed with many of them. Please let us make this new YMCA pool project the realization of this dream.

We have seen $4 million allotted for a pool at Riis Park that never happened, and close by, we have a beautiful new sports facility in Floyd Bennett Field with no such state of the art pool.

If Rockaway's "Renaissance" is for real, then this is exactly the kind of facility that should be a centerpiece for the community's pride. " We are New York City's beach; therefore

we need swimming

and diving facilities of the highest caliber. This is clearly our opportunity; let's make it happen.
