Dominick Rivara
Operating Engineer

Dominick Rivara, a lifelong resident of Rockaway and Howard Beach, died August 26. He was 85.

Rivara, an operating engineer, was born in Arverne on June 18, 1922. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Marine Construction and Dock Builders.

Rivara was preceded in death by six of his brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Diane (nee Carcano); sons, Dominick, Steven and Gregg; daughter, Lisa Good; sister, Dolores Larken; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. Burial of Rivara's cremains will be on Friday, August 31, 11 a.m. at Calverton National Cemetery.
