for larger version       Mary A.Griffin Center Mary A. Griffin, a Rockaway resident since her teenage years, died August 20. She was 75. Griffin was born in St. Matthews, South Carolina on October 5, 1931. She was a director and teacher at the Hammels Childcare Center. Griffin was a member of the Pastor's Aid and president of the Nurses Unit for Bethel A.M.E. Church of Far Rockaway. She was also a member of the V.F.W. Post 2781 Ladies Auxiliary. Griffin is survived by her son, Junius Jr. (Sandra); daughter, Charlotte (Mark); stepchildren, Linus, Deborah, June, Reginald, Zenzi and Pamela; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. Visitation and services were held at Bethel A.M.E. Church. Interment was at Nassau Knolls Cemetery in Port Washington.
