for larger version       Zirone Gayle Zirone Gayle, a longtime Rockaway resident, died August 15. Gayle, a certified nurse assistant (CNA), was born in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, West Indies, on September 10, 1924. Her family said she was very spiritual and committed to her family, always making sure that holidays were celebrated together. She enjoyed doing puzzles and needle point. Gayle was preceded in death by her husband, Philip Gayle. She is survived by her children, Venice, Catherine, Gilbert, Alton, Owen, Mathelin, David and Andrew; 38 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and other family members and friends.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home. A service was held at the First Church of God in Far Rockaway. Interment will be at Pinelawn Cemetery in Farmingdale, Long Island.
