NYPD Chopper Reels In Fishermen

Divers and the NYPD Aviation Unit plucked four fishermen from a wave-battered rock jetty in Breezy Point on Wednesday afternoon. The fishermen, described by police as male Hispanics, had to leave their gear and catches behind. They were uninjured. NYPD heroes (from l to r) Detective Dennis Micic, Police Officer John Purcell, Sergeant Victor Mevo, Detective Chris Tzavel and Sergeant Mike Hendrix, afterwards held a press conference at Floyd Bennett Field, where they said the low visibility complicated the successful rescue.
This view from the helicopter's onboard camera shows a helmeted officer staring down at the rescue basket and the swamped rock jetty.
