'Dark Angel'Charged In Father's Slaying

Brigitte Harris, 26, of Arverne is charged with murdering and sexually mutilating her father inside her apartment.
The woman who checked into a psychiatric center after she allegedly handcuffed and suffocated her father then sexually mutilated his body inside her Arverne apartment was charged last week with murder.

Brigitte Harris, 26, of 436 Beach 69 Street is charged with second-degree murder and first-degree manslaughter, according to Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown. Harris, who referred to herself as "Lady Vengeance" and "The Original Dark Angel" on an online webpage, faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted.

"The defendant, who for the past several weeks has been confined to a Staten Island psychiatric facility, is accused of a deeply disturbing crime in which she allegedly plotted and carried out the murder of her father and the mutilation of his body," said Brown.

Harris, a security guard at JFK International Airport, is accused of luring her father, Eric Goodridge, 55, to her apartment in Arverne on Saturday, July 28. She then handcuffed him, gagged him with a towel and wrapped the towel around his head, securing it with duct tape. Goodridge, who lived in Staten Island, died of "asphyxiation due to gagging, covering of neck and neck compression," according to the Chief Medical Examiner's report.

Sources say Harris killed her father in retaliation for years of sexual abuse against her and her sister. She reportedly left a letter near Goodridge's body saying he had wrecked her life. Harris then fled to Staten Island after the brutal attack and called 911, reporting herself as emotionally disturbed to police, and was taken to a psychiatric facility at Richmond University Medical Center, according to Brown.

Detectives from the 100 Precinct arrested Harris on Thursday, August 16 and she was later arraigned on the murder and manslaughter charges. She remains in custody.
