for larger version       William J.Lane Sr. William J. Lane Sr., a Rockaway resident for more than 22 years coming from Brooklyn, died August 13. Lane was born in Brooklyn. He worked as a truck driver teamster, Local 807, and in recent years was the owner and operator of the Beach 129 Street Deli. Lane was preceded in death by his daughter, Laura Lee Sullivan. He is survived by his wife, Betty Shevlin Lane; sons, William Jr. and Garett Lane; daughter, Patricia Roche; brothers, Henry and Garrett; sister, Janet Miccio; 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements and visitation were entrusted to the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. All other arrangements were kept private.
