DUI Motorist Makes O'Connor's A Drive-In
A motorist who police say was driving under the influence made the Denis O'Connor Funeral Home on Beach Channel Drive and Beach 92 Street into a drive-in on Friday, August 10. Police sources say that Jose Carela, who address is listed in the Bronx, was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol at about 7 a.m. on Friday. Carela reportedly plowed through the bushes in front of the facility and ran into the columns that mark its front door, destroying the column and the glass atrium around the door.

Carela's car allegedly plowed through these bushes before hitting the door. The front entrance to the funeral home has been completely closed off, leaving access only by the door on Beach 91 Street. Photos By Matthew Harris
