Police sources told The Wave that Warren Lavan, of 169 Marks Avenue in Manhattan, came out of the Beach 90 Street subway station at about 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 15. He allegedly told an unidentified man who was smoking a cigarette to put it out. When the man refused, Lavan allegedly told him that he was going to put the cigarette out on the man's face, and then pulled a folding knife and threatened his life. The man ran towards the beach, with Lavan in pursuit, police said. Officers responding to calls from bystanders tracked Lavan to the beach, where they arrested him and recovered the knife allegedly used in the incident.
Lanvan was charged with menacing.
