'Now And Then There Is Good'
Dear Editor,

Every once in awhile we become more aware of a small segment of our society, who are working silently. I think of them as angels.

A group where I live whose deeds go unsung, but are deserving of our praise.

The next door neighbors who always take the time to say "hello." Their caretaking skills honed so that it has come down to their small children. They deliver a newspaper or visit with a smile, rewarded with a sweet or a few coins for their banks and my gratitude. The Plasha and Wally Young family are these kinds of neighbors.

Midge Williams, who collects funds all year for the children of St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

The arts and crafts women who work patiently for St. Thomas More Church: Ronnie McCarthy, Midge Strack and Joyce. Many others as well, who make quilts and crocheted items. They are always busy but take the time to say, "How good to see you."

The Rockaway Point Fire and Ambulance

Corps is another

group of "angels." They are kind and efficient, and have saved me swiftly and taken me to Peninsula Hospital. Always there within minutes to my call of distress. My eternal gratitude. They are the salt of the earth, and make our everyday lives secure and nicer. Thank you, "angels." Now and then, there is good!

LESLIE MCCABE
