for larger version       'Show Us The Money!' Fed up: This is a follow-up letter regarding the Arverne YMCA fourlane pool disaster. It's such an insult to the people of the Rockaways that the politicians always tell you they are behind the project but never come up with any money (e.g.- Senator Clinton, Senator Schumer, Congressman Weiner, Assemblywoman Pheffer, Councilman Addabbo and Councilman Sanders). Empty promises are lies. Like the old saying goes, "show us the money!" For everyone's information, on August 1, Senator Marty Golden got $40 million to renovate Dreier- Offerman Park on Shore Parkway. The park gets three new baseball fields, six new soccer fields, kayak launches, picnic areas, a central lawn, a new bicycle path, nature trails, an amphitheater, a pavilion and a recreation center. The people of the Rockaways cannot even get two more lanes added to a four-lane lap pool. "What a disgrace!" We will not forget come election time in November. ROBERT ROONEY | |||||
