The 'Derry Destroyer'Comes To MSG

Fans of undefeated Irish boxer John Duddy can tune in to MSG August 11 at 8 p.m., to watch the champ's "Homecoming" bout against Italy's Alessio Furlan.

The ten-round fight was previously aired live, on July 14, on pay-perview.

Prior to the match, Wave editorial cartoonist Robert Sarnoff's documentary, "The Irish Ropes," which stars Duddy, will air on MSG.

Known as the "Derry Destroyer" on the Emerald Isle, Duddy was born in Derry City, Northern Ireland.

As a middleweight, he began boxing as an amateur and fought his way to professional ranking.

And don't expect him to "throw in the towel" anytime soon.

Known as "Ireland's" John Duddy here in the U.S., he came to Queens at 21-0 and continues his mission to become the third Irish-born middleweight at 160 pounds to capture a major world title.
