for larger version       Gussie Ben Richardson Gussie Ben Richardson, a Rockaway resident for more than 45 years, died August 1. He was 69. Richardson, a sales manager, was born in Charleston, South Carolina, on March 30, 1938. He was a member of First Calvary Baptist Church for more than 30 years, where he was chairman of the deacon and trustees boards. His family said he was a passionate animal lover who cared for several cats and dogs. Richardson was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Jean; and parents, Mary Richardson and Gussie Coutryer. He is survived by his sisters, Evelyn Scott, Barbra Williams, Barbara A. Coutryer, Joann Coutryer, Calperta Watson, Gustina Capers and Sharon Coutryer; brothers, Larry Donley and Paul, Glenn, David and Eric Coutryer; daughters Nia M. O'Bryant and Felicia Grandy; granddaughters, Shania Miller and Seliat Dairom, goddaughter, Donna Jones; and other family members and friends.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home, with the funeral wake at Gaffney's Friendship Chapel. Interment was at Covert Cemetery in Covert, Michigan.
