for larger version       Emwinorowanekue O.Ehigie Emwinorowanekue O. Ehigie died July 23, 2007. She was 77. Ehigie, a trader, was born on September 6, 1929 in Ogbenson, Nigeria. She was visiting relatives in Rockaway at the time of her death. She was a strong and active woman in the community, according to family members, who said she was a devoted mother, wife, and friend. She loved to cook, trade and play with children. Ehigie was preceded in death by her husband, Solomon Ehigie Odigie. Ehigie is survived by her nine children, including Mary Roland, John Odigie, Ekinadese Okoro, Jonathan, Igueduwa, Vivian Odigie and Soloman Odigie; 47 grandchildren, including Judith Ekhator, Uyiosasere Roland, Efe Roland and Ighoroga Roland; six great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home. Interment was in Benin City, Nigeria.
