for larger version       Grand Larceny And Falsification Not Brought To Court For Broad Channel Man The Broad Channel man, who was charged in January with third-degree grand larceny and falsifying business records to allegedly collect thousands of dollars in worker's compensation, now has an almost-clean slate. Vincent Jefferes, 44, instead pled guilty to a disorderly conduct violation this June and will pay a $95 fine. Jefferes, who was arrested with nine others under a fraud investigation, allegedly worked as a limousine driver while collecting the compensation. His medical records at the time said he was "completely disabled" and unable to sit for more than two hours without discomfort after an on-the-job injury as an elevator repairman. Jefferes' lawyer Francisco Knipping- Diaz said the prosecutor's case suffered from lack of evidence. "[They] never would have pled it down if they had evidence to convict him," Knipping-Diaz said.
Queens District Attorney Richard Brown's office confirmed the disposition of the case, but refused to comment further.
