How About The Garbage?
Dear Editor,

In regards to the letter "Parking Ticket For What?"

Mike, how long have you been living on this block? The curbs painted yellow in front of 178 and 180, Beach 118 Street have been there for a couple of years now!

Not to mention that eyesore of garbage to hold the broken basketball hoop in place to insure no one parks there. You said you called the police and 311 and no change? Hello, obviously these people know someone! The police and sanitation make the city a fortune on this block. I see tickets on top of cars from inspections, registrations and various parking summonses.

Neighbors have gotten tickets because a passerby may throw their soda can in someone's regular garbage or they didn't take a bottle cap off their recycled garbage! Yet, for about 104 weeks, sanitation has come down this block every Friday to clean the street and this mess is standing there and nothing happens!

The police race down the street on Friday morning to give parked cars a ticket because the street has to be cleaned and they see this mess sitting there? The police wouldn't even take a look and told you to call 311 and still no changes? You do the math! You're not the first one to complain and nothing has been done. Maybe it's time to take it up a notch and call or write to the Borough President and see what the deal is.

CAROL FLORENZA
