Councilman Sanders Attacks Rockaway Gangs

Councilman James Sanders, Jr., CLH Security President Mark Claxton, and Lance and Todd Feurtado of the King of Kings Foundation will host a press conference to announce an anti-gang initiative in Rockaway. The press conference will take place on Wednesday August 8, 2007, at 10:30 a.m., at the Ocean Bay Houses, Beach 54 Street and Beach Channel Drive in Edgemere.

Sanders fought heavily to obtain funding to attack gang violence through the New York City Council's Anti-Gang Initiative, which was created to aid communities that have been plagued with gang violence. Through the funding, Sanders hired CLH Security to patrol the Ocean Bay Houses and the neighborhood of Arverne. Sanders also drafted Lance and Todd Feurtado of the King of Kings Foundation to educate young people on the dangers of being involved in gang activity.

The renowned former drug kingpins ran a $30 million enterprise that stretched across 23 states. After serving a combination of nearly two decades behind prison bars, the Feurtado brothers found Christianity and decided to give back to the community, by educating youth about the dangers of drug use and gang violence. They will host a series of gang, drug, and HIV AIDS awareness and prevention workshops at community centers across the Rockaways.
