'Beach Front Road'Is Open (Sometimes)
 | | Beach Front Road, a new east/west thoroughfare from Beach 73 Street to Beach 67 Street, was quietly opened last Friday morning - sort of. The road, which has one lane in each direction, will be open on a limited basis during daylight hours for the next 2 to 3 weeks, until the street lights are connected and a final asphalt layer is completed, according to Gerard "Gerry" Romski of Arverne By The Sea, which is developing that area.  | | The peninsula's first new road in decades (closed to traffic in this photo) was carved out of the Arverne Urban Renewal Area and has a dune preserve between it and the boardwalk. A new traffic circle was also installed on Shore Front Parkway at the south end of Beach 73 Street. Romski said he's unsure how the circle will be decorated. Beach Front Road is supposed to extend to Beach 60 Street as developing the ARUA continues. |
