Fahy, who was born in Brooklyn, served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Era. Fahy was a detective first grade for the New York City Police Department, and retired in 1995 from the Brooklyn South Homicide Squad after 38 years of service. He was a member of the Detective Endowment Society, Emerald Society, Police Holy Name Society and the Police Dinosaur Club. Fahy was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathleen Stone; brothers, John and James; and sisters, Margaret Hermance, Anne Carr and Bridget DeVito. He is survived by his wife, Nora Cahill Fahy; children, Noreen, John, Michael, James, Kevin, Patricia and Martin Fahy; sisters, Sister Mary Bride RSM and Eileen Fahy; and 27 grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home, with visitation to be held on Saturday, July 28 and Sunday, July 29, from 2-5 p.m. and 7-10 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 30 at 9:45 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Church in Belle Harbor. Interment will be at Long Island National Cemetery in Pinelawn, New York.
