Thomas M. Clarke
WWII Veteran,Retired Mechanic

Thomas M. Clarke, a 30-year Rockaway resident coming from Kensington, Brooklyn, died July 21.

Clarke was born in Westport, County Mayo, Ireland. He served in the United States Army Air Forces 69th Regiment during World War II. He was a retired mechanic for Brooklyn Union Gas and a former usher at St. Edmund's Church in Breezy Point.

Clarke is survived by his wife, Alice Broderick Clarke; children, Marie McGarry, Patricia Butler Mitchell, Thomas J. Clarke, Alyce B. Clarke, Rosemary Clerkin and Jack Clarke; sister-in-law, Valdona Clarke; 19 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Thomas More Church in Rockaway Point. Interment was at St. John's Cemetery in Middle Village.
