Ceremony For New 'Surfing-Only'Beach Set For 7/27

The Department of Parks and Recreation, elected officials - and of course, surfers - will designate the city's second "surfing-only" beach at a ceremony on Beach 67 Street at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 27. Rockaway is also home to the city's first surfing-only beach, which was established on Beach 90 Street in April, 2005, with a ceremony attended by Assemblywoman Audrey Pheffer, Parks Commissioner Adrian Benepe and City Councilman Joseph Addabbo, who are seen above surfing the sand.
