for larger version       Matthew W.Giannasca Sr. Matthew W. Giannasca Sr., a lifelong Rockaway resident, died July 19. Giannasca, who was a proprietor, was born in Boston, Massachusetts. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Giannasca was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary Giannasca. He is survived by his son, Matthew Giannasca Jr.; daughter, Lisa Giannasca; and brothers, Edward and Hector Giannasca.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. AFuneral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 20 at noon at St. Francis de Sales Church in Belle Harbor. Interment will be at St. John's Cemetery in Middle Village.
