Big Apple Games At Beach Channel High School

The Big Apple Games is a free summer recreational program at Beach Channel High School that will give schoolchildren the opportunity to take part in a number of recreational activities during the summer months.

The New York City Department of Education and the Public School Athletic League will sponsor the free program, which began on July 9 and ends on August 17.

The program is open to students from the ages of 13 through 19 years old.

The Big Apple Games will operate the program Monday through Thursday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and an evening session beginning at 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Students can get involved in the various sports that will be offered, such as wrestling, volleyball, basketball, softball, floor hockey, gymnastics and others.

The program will also contain a game room, which will include board games, table tennis and arts and crafts.

A high school football instruction camp will be offered that will teach football skills, weightlifting, conditioning and agility training.

The program will begin from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Players in grades 9-12 who are currently playing high school football and live on the peninsula are invited to attend.
