The Secure Call Foundation is taking the buried treasures found in many American homes and transforming them into 911 emergency phones that can contact emergency services free-of-charge and without a carrier plan. State Senator Malcolm Smith said there are approximately 45 million phones scattered across the country that could be put to better use. "These phones are distributed to individuals who are in need of a cell phone for emergency purposes," Smith said in a press release. "Your generosity may mean the difference between life and death."
