EMSA Scholarship Competition

New York medical and undergraduate students conducting research in the medical field now have the opportunity to win a $1,500 scholarship through the 2007 Empire State Medical Association's (EMSA) Student Research Poster Competition.

State Senator Malcolm Smith encourages all Queens students studying medicine to participate.

"For young men and women who are pursuing a career in the medical field, this competition is a showcase for the talents of the next generation of physicians and surgeons who are trained to heal," Smith said in a press release.

Any student who has completed their research while enrolled in some form of higher education is eligible to present a poster displaying their research for the competition.

Competitors must have completed original research, vouched for by their research advisor, must be the first or second author of the research paper and must be present for the November 3 judging conference.

EMSA members will evaluate the posters, reviewing quality, significance to the field, thoroughness and clarity of the presentation.

The deadline for applications is Monday, October 1. For more information, call EMSA at 212-663-0473.
