Robert Byrnes
Signal Maintainer
Robert Byrnes, a Rockaway resident for 20 years, died July 11.

Byrnes was born in Brooklyn. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and later was a signal maintainer for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

Byrnes is survived by his wife, Doris Baer Byrnes; stepson, Joseph Ingarra; stepdaughters, Nancy White and Susan Leone; daughters, Maureen Byrnes, Patricia Carson, Loraine Sanders, Margaret Byrnes and Theresa Padula; brother, Reverend Jack Byrnes; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, July 14 and Sunday, July 15 from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be held at the funeral home on Sunday at 8 p.m. Burial at Greenfield Cemetery in Uniondale, Long Island will be on Monday, July 16.
