Boys Grammar Division Battle In St. Francis Classic

The 23rd edition of the St. Francis Summer Classic is now fully underway.

As the Summer Classic took a break for Independence Day, the focus will turn to the Boys Grammar Middle Division, which has already produced a large number of exciting games.

Rockaway Little League and the Cougars lead the way with a record of 3 wins and 1 loss.

Eamonn Gavigan and Christian Conlon have combined with the Gallagher cousins; Matt Sosnowski, Conor Ward, Thomas Brennan, and Liam Gallagher, as an effective unit for the Rockaway Little League team.

Ryan Kilgallen headlines for the Cougars with assistance provided by Chris Morris, Billy Collins and the McVeigh cousins; Patrick and Eamon Coughlin and Owen McVeigh.

J.G. Electrical Installations, Mullin Basketball Camp, and BRS are all tied with a 2-1 record.

Mark Genovese, Conor Rayder, and Patrick Cashin have made a spark for JG. BRS players Matt Linares, Nial Reen, and Dylan Evans are the movers and shakers for their team. Kevin Magee, Ricky Comis, Brendan Margolies, and Dennis Barnes top the scoring for the Mullin Basketball Camp.

Kennedy's Restaurant and Walsh Properties are even with a 2-2 record. Ryan McDade and the Crockett brothers-Matt and Kevin, lead Kennedy's who suffered a blow with an injury to Bryan Carley.

Jimmy Wolfer, Patrick Goldberg and Alex Moule have each energized Walsh Properties.

The Orangemen won a thriller over Walsh to get their first win as Tommy Mercer hit the game winning shot. Michael Buckley, Sean Morgan, and Gregory Charles lead the squad.

Belle Harbor Physical Therapy has lost a few close ones on their way to a 1-3 record despite the good play of Charlie Marquardt, Sean Gigliello, and Tommy Tyne.

East Meets West has also suffered some heartbreakers and looks to pick up their first win when play resumes this week. Jack Hurley will need some more assistance from Logan Conroy, Kevin Caputo, and Luciano Ibbott to put a victory on the board.

The Summer Classic continues throughout July from Monday through Thursday beginning at 5:45 p.m. at the St. Francis de Sales schoolyard.
