Hidden In Plain Sight - And Dangerous

The center malls that were built on Rockaway Beach Boulevard from Beach 125 Street to Neponsit are undeniably good to look at and perhaps raise property values, as their proponents claimed when they were built, but there are many who see the vegetation chosen to adorn them as dangerous. Motorists such as the one who took this picture on Beach 130 Street, attempting to make a left turn onto the beach block from Rockaway Beach Boulevard, often have to proceed with extreme caution because the nascent trees block their view until a eastbound car is practically in the intersection. Police say there have been no accidents explicitly reported as problems with seeing through the trees, but as they grow larger, the problem will be exacerbated, experts say.
