A native of Brooklyn, Greenberg attended public schools at the elementary and secondary level prior to attaining his Bachelor's Degree in Economics from Columbia University and his Master's Degree in Education from Columbia Teacher's College. He spent the next three years teaching high school social studies and coaching football and debate at Mount Anthony Union High School, in Bennington, Vermont. In 1978, Greenberg returned to New York where he entered the world of finance, and for the past twenty years, he served as a Senior Vice President for Smith Barney, Citigroup. In January of 2005, he entered into a partnership with several of his colleagues to form the Harbor Group at Smith Barney, which specializes in serving all the personal and business financial needs of high net-worth individuals. Greenberg has a long record of involvement with many facets of the community, serving as a board member, officer or president of organizations including: Community School District 27 Queens, the Breezy Point Cooperative, the Caffrey-Conroy Learning Center in Breezy Point and the Rockaway Chamber of Commerce. He was singled out by City Councilman Joseph P. Addabbo Jr. in 2004 with a "City Council Citation" for outstanding service to his community and in 2005, by Trinity Services, for his dedication and service to the citizens of New York. He currently serves as the Assistant Treasurer and on the Peninsula Hospital Center's Board of Trustees' Retirement and Investment Committee, where both his professional expertise and personal skills, along with his dedication to the work of the Hospital Center, make him a very valuable asset. In addition to his career and community service responsibilities, Steve has always found time to spend with children in a coaching capacity. From 1987 until 2002, Greenberg coached girls' soccer, basketball and softball for the St. Thomas More CYO Program in Breezy Point, and for many summers he has played for and managed the Brennan and Carr Softball Team in the Breezy Point Men's Night League. Greenberg is also a proud member of both the Fulton Floppers in Breezy's Sunday Morning Walk League and Henny's Pops, Breezy's local entry in the Queens 40+ CYO League. He and his wife, Lucia, have been married for more than 30 years. The couple has three daughters: Jennifer, Judith and Jane.
