The staff, students and parents of PS/MS 47 are very proud of the school's accomplishments this year. Below is a compilation of several achievements and successes that occurred over the past few months:
Jessica Bernstein from Class 6-201 received gold medals for races and throws in the special education games. She also surpassed her previous record for swimming 25 meters, with a new time of 23.55 seconds.
Sixth graders Alexa Jackowski, Lacey Skelly and Keoni Perry won a third place trophy at the Region 5 Technology Festival. Third graders Kyle O'Carroll, second grader Kyrsten Kane and Miguel Velasquez also won semi-finalist awards. Under the guidance of art therapist Lindsay Lauder, PS/MS 47 students, staff and parents lent a "hand" to create hand-print murals around the school. A total of 1,350 handprints were used to repair a wall that was covered with graffiti and had cracked, peeling paint.
The PS/MS 47 Music Memory team won second and third place awards in the citywide Music Memory competition. The team's coach, Mrs. Ruggiero, and the entire school were proud of their success.
