Aviation Interest Soars In Channel View Students

Interest in aviation among sixth and seventh-graders in the Channel View School for Research "took off" after a recent field trip to Floyd Bennett Field. There, the students learned about Floyd Bennett's history as the city's first municipal airport and also as a site used by famous pilots, Amelia Earhardt and Howard Hughes. The students also got some hands-on experience with the aircraft by touring several, which are currently being restored. Pictured is class 712 on a helicopter ramp.
