FRHS Class Of '57 Celebrates 50th With Wine,Memories

The Far Rockaway High School Class of 1957 held its 50th reunion at the Marriott Hotel in Uniondale, Long Island last Saturday night. Nearly 100 alumni and their spouses showed up for the event, the first reunion held by the class in 25 years. Pictured, some of the alumni, now all in their mid to late 60's, signing in.
Alumni relive the "good old days" of their teens. Getting reacquainted after 50 years was the major entertainment for the evening.
One alumna takes time out to look at a display of photographs from Rockaway's past. While some remain Rockaway residents, the great majority of the alumni live elsewhere, one even traveling from Sweden for the event.
An alumna looks at a bulletin board displaying menus from local restaurants that no longer exist but were favorite hangouts, such as Cosmo Pacetta's, The State Diner, The Far Rockaway Palace and Ben Masik's (a nightclub in Brooklyn). In addition, there were programs from some of the rock 'n roll concerts hosted by Allan Fried at the old Brooklyn Paramount.

David Dobin, undeterred by his motorized vehicle, was one of the most popular alumni at the reunion.
The coordinators of the event provided photographs from high school days as well as contemporary photos and bios of each of the alumni who attended. Pictured, some alumni look at their bios.
