Brooklyn Cyclones Breeze Past Yankees On Opening Day
New York Yankees Hall of Famer Yogi Berra once said "You can observe a lot by watching". Brooklyn Cyclones third baseman J.R. Voyles watched his team go scoreless for five innings against the Staten Island Yankees at Keyspan Park on Opening Day last Tuesday night. Voyles then came off the bench as an injury replacement and knocked a three-run home run to left field in his first at bat in the sixth inning, to help lift his team to a 5-1 win. At right: Joseph Leaper pitched five scoreless innings in his first start for the Brooklyn Cyclones, the New York Mets' short-season single 'A' team. 8,888 fans were in attendance that night.
