Hamburgers,Leis And Palm Trees At JASA BBQ
Leis, summertime cuisine and palm trees marked JASA's (Jewish Association for Services for the Aged) June 5 barbecue luau to promote volunteerism and community service within the organization. The seniors, volunteers and staff of the JASA Roy Reuther Senior Center attended the barbecue, which was underwritten by Goldman Sachs, partnering with JASA. JASA kicked off the day with a beautification project- replanting geraniums in new pots and replacing old ones. A hula dancer and a Hawaiian singer entertained attendees by performing and also teaching willing seniors to hula dance. In a room adorned with luau paraphernalia, including a giant, inflatable palm tree, everyone enjoyed the cole slaw, potato salad, soda, watermelon, and hot dogs and hamburgers. All in all, the program was a success thanks to Goldman Sachs and the volunteers, seniors and staff of JASA.
