On the way home to his apartment at 14-60 Beach Channel Drive, he and a friend stopped at the White Castle restaurant on Beach Channel Drive and Mott Avenue, where he purchased the white bag of onion rings that were still in his hand when he was shot. He continued on home, reports say, with the friend who left him in front of his building. The unidentified friend later told police that he had gone a short distance to his own home when he heard shots and ran back to find Elliot shot in the head and neck. Elliot was rushed to the trauma center at Jamaica Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
Friends of the slain man said that Elliot had chosen the name "Stacks" as a reference to stacks of money and "Bundles" because he was his mother's bundle of joy. He had been a familiar figure in the New York hip-hop scene as a DJ and composer of rap lyrics. He had also performed with the rap artists Fabolous, DJ Clue and Max B., and had received his biggest break about a year ago when he joined the group Byrd Gang, headed by Jim Jones. While police said they did not believe the shooting was related to any recent wars in the rap and hip-hop world, locals say that some in the Redfern Houses were jealous of Elliot's growing success in the business. He was about to release his debut album, his aunt, Davida Wooten told Daily News reporters. ""They took his life out of jealousy," Wooten said. "This was his dream. This was all our dreams and he was doing it." A police source told The Wave that they believed that it was an ambush and that Elliot was the intended target. A pair of .45-Caliber shell casings was found at the scene. Detectives from the 101 Precinct Squad and the Queens Homicide Squad are investigating.
At Press time, police sources told The Wave they have no leads and that no arrests have been made in the case.
