B. 43 St. School Bus Accident Sends Many Children To PHC, Driver To Jail

A school bus from the Rivlab Bus Company rear-ended another school bus owned by Atlantic Express on Beach Channel Drive near Beach 43 Street last Friday morning on the way to school, starting a chain of events that sent all of the students in the buses to Peninsula Hospital Center for medical examinations, and reportedly sent the unidentified driver of the Rivlab bus to Queens Central Booking, under arrest for unspecified charges.
All of the young, elementary school children were escorted to the EMS trauma bus and then to the hospital for testing. Some of the children were treated for minor scratches and bruises and all of the children were soon released and transported to their schools.
