Parishes Celebrate Peninsula Cup Season With Awards Barbeque

Reverend Monsignor John Brown of St. Francis de Sales (left) and Reverend Monsignor Michael Curran of St. Thomas More conduct a prayer service for the children.
Families from St. Thomas More and St. Francis de Sales parishes celebrated the end of a successful Peninsula Cup soccer season last Sunday with a barbeque at Ft. Tilden. Hundreds of children and their parents participated in the ceremony.

The event began with a prayer service from Monsignor John Brown of St. Francis and Monsignor Michael Curran of St. Thomas. There was music, dancing and pick-up games of soccer, football and basketball throughout the day.

One of the highlights was the senior soccer game between the 8th grade girls and boys. In a very hotly contested game, the boys defeated the girls 3-2.

Thanks to all of the players who participated; they certainly put on one last terrific show before the eighth graders move on to high school. Congratulations to all on their upcoming graduation. Both parishes are very proud of them!
