NYCHA Lacrosse Learns Winning Spirit At Eli Jamboree
The NYCHA Lacrosse team had an outstanding time at the tournament, as they played at an excellent facility at Yale. The youth even got the chance to experience "up close and personal" a polo game (lacrosse on horses, as they phrased it), which was going on during the tournament. The players woke up and traveled early Sunday morning to Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. The tournament has 40 to 50 youth lacrosse programs from Branford, East Lyme, Trumball, Relax, Norwalk, Milford, and New Canaan. Eight to ten games were played by each team throughout the day, and each contest took 25 minutes each. At one time, nine fields saw plenty of lacrosse action. There was little chance for rest, but the players loved the constant action. NYCHA players such as the lacrosse twins Troy and Troy-Von Young (our youngest, smallest, and most aggressive players), single-handedly won our last game against Norwalk with an outstanding stick check. Their teammates retrieved the ground ball, made an assist, and scored to win the game. The team also got a chance to meet with University of Virginia Lacrosse Head Coach Dom Starcia. All NYCHA Lacrosse players displayed tremendous hustle, especially Keith Watson Jr., (middie), Roger Greene, (goalie), Zach & Corey Lopez, (middies) and Taj Peterson.
