Street Dedication for Sarah Colson

From 1968 until her death in April, 2006, Sarah Colson influenced the Rockaways as an advocate for parents and children in the New York City public school system.

Some of her work includes founding Youth on A Positive Mission, which assists adolescents in the community, and co-founding People United for Local Leadership Inc., which promotes awareness for political education in the Rockaways.

In remembrance of Colson's community activism, the Colson family is holding a street dedication on June 16 at 11 a.m. on the corner of Beach Channel Drive and Beach 66 Street. The ceremony will include performances by local choirs and appearances by guest speakers.

The Colson family extends a warm invitation to members of the community to attend and honor the late Sarah Colson.
