New 'Welcome To Summer'Parade A Hit
There was a new game in town this year as the National Park Service hosted a "Welcome To Summer" parade to begin the commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of Riis Park. The parade, which stepped off from Beach 129 Street and Rockaway Beach Boulevard on Friday, May 25 and wended its way west to the Riis Park beach, where a barbeque was held for the marchers, included many old cars, a barbershop quartet and locals wearing period dress.
