RDRC Fundraiser A Big Success

The Rockaway Development and Revitalization Corporation (RDRC) held its 21st Annual Dinner Dance and Awards Gala at Russo's on the Bay on Wednesday, May 16. The event was attended by almost 500 community residents, businesses, and elected and government officials. "This year's event focused on individuals who significantly contributed to the betterment of our community, from a public service, business and civic standpoint," said RDRC's Executive Director, Kevin Alexander.

This year's honorees included Senator Malcolm Smith; Jean Mullgrav, Department of Youth and Community Development; Ira Seplow, Trainor & Seplow, P.C.; Michele Alexander-Hankins, Rockaway Consortium of Child Care Centers; Jacqueline Arrington, Citibank; Gerry Romski, Arverne by the Sea, LLC; Omar Ventegeat, Arverne by the Sea, LLC; Reverend Leslie Mullings, Far Rockaway Community Church of the Nazarene; Rashford Mendes, Arverne Civic Association; Jacqueline McMikle; Sergeant Angel Arcentales (posthumously); Esmeralda Laureano; Jacklyn Samaroo; Betty Leon; and Janet Henriquez.
