Marcella Hall Receives College Accolades

Marcella I. Hall of Far Rockaway was recently presented with the Presidential Diversity Scholar Award for achieving the highest grade point average in her class at St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York. The Presidential Diversity Scholar Awards were established to increase student diversity by facilitating the enrollment of students of African American, Asian American, Hispanic American and Native American backgrounds, and to provide opportunities for diverse cultural initiatives on and off campus.

Hall was also inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa at moving-up day ceremonies at the college. Omicron Delta Kappa is a national leadership honorary society that recognizes students who were successful in academics, athletics, community and campus services, the performing arts and journalism. Members strive to promote leadership on campus.

Hall, a sophomore, is a graduate from Math/Science Research Technology Magnet High School in Cambria Heights and is majoring in Mathematics and Economics at St. Lawrence. She also participates in on-campus activities, including Black Student Union, and works as a college assistant.
