St. Virgilius Baseball Boys Off To Rip-Roaring Start

The Jamaica Bay Little League/St. Virgilius baseball team improved their record over the weekend to 11 - 0.

It started on Saturday with a win over St. Joseph's by the score of 4-0. Dom Edison pitched 5 innings of no-hit baseball. Tomas Krohn came in relief for 2 innings and didn't give up a run.

"Lights Out" Ciambriello came in the 7th to finish off the win by pitching a scoreless 1-2-3 inning.

On Sunday, St. Virgilius took the field and scored 16 runs through 6 innings against Our Lady of Hope. Everyone on the team made an appearance on the basepaths.

The bases were loaded when Matt Holgate slammed a double in the gap to score all three runs. Matt Gericke pitched a one-hitter through 4 innings. (Smilin) John Galimi came in and shut the door on OLH.

St. Virgilius' Johnny Wags, John Claudio-Bil, Jayson Edison, Keith Harnisher, Steve Ellis, Tom Cani, Anthony Cani, Steven Trudden, Jack Tubridy and Jesse Parente all had good games.

The team looks forward to seeing everyone this Saturday, May 26 at 1030 a.m. at All-American fields. The team is also traveling for the weekend to the second annual Mayors Cup in Manhattan on Saturday and Sunday at Pier 40. Come on out and cheer them on.
