Hadassah Heart Luncheon June 28

Rockaway Park Hadassah will celebrate their annual Heart Luncheon at the Lawrence Country Club on June 28. This year the even has been renamed the Faye Cohen Heart Luncheon, in memory of Rockaway Park Hadassah's chairperson, who passed away this May.

Faye Cohen presided over the event for 44 years, transforming it from a small gathering of Hadassah women to the gala luncheon celebrated each year. Over the years, she helped raise tens of thousands of dollars for heart research and equipment for Hadassah Hospital in Israel. This year the luncheon will pay tribute to her and her outstanding work.

As is customary, the Heart Luncheon always honors a member of the community who has made Rockaway a better place to live. This year the honor will go to Nadia Murphy, Beautification Chairperson of the Shore and Belle Harbor Garden Clubs. Murphy is a past president of the Shore Garden Club and a vice president of the Belle Harbor Garden Club.

Murphy helped design the gardens for Tribute Park on Beach Channel Drive and was also involved in the daffodil plantings throughout the community in memory of the victims of 9/11. Her devotion to the community has earned her the gratitude and respect of Rockaway Park Hadassah.
